WhatsApp Marketing Service

WhatsApp is how Thailand and most of Asia actually communicates with brands. Email open rates trend down; WhatsApp open rates sit at 90%+. The opportunity is huge — but the rules around it (PDPA in Thailand, GDPR for international audiences, Meta’s own Business Policy) catch a lot of teams off-guard. Here is how we run WhatsApp marketing that actually works and stays within the rules.

WhatsApp marketing in 2026

WhatsApp is now the primary channel for customer communication across Thailand, India, the Middle East, and most of South America. Open rates 90%+, response rates 30%+, conversion rates 5-15% on permission-based campaigns. By comparison, email open rates have dropped to 25-40% and conversion to 1-3%.

The catch: WhatsApp is permission-only. You cannot legally bulk-message strangers. Meta enforces this aggressively — accounts that violate get banned, often without warning, and the ban affects every linked phone number permanently.

Business API vs bulk WhatsApp tools

There are two paths to WhatsApp marketing. We only recommend one.

  • WhatsApp Business API (recommended) — official integration via Meta’s API, accessed through Business Solution Providers like Wati, MessageBird, or Twilio. Compliant, scalable, supports automation, includes verified business profile, conversation pricing model.
  • Bulk WhatsApp tools (avoid) — third-party scrapers and unofficial tools that automate consumer WhatsApp accounts. Against Meta’s terms, gets accounts banned, no compliance protections, no automation depth.

We work exclusively with the Business API. The cost is slightly higher (conversation pricing applies, typically $0.01-$0.10 per session depending on country) but the compliance and reliability are worth it for any serious brand.

What we set up

  1. WhatsApp Business profile — verified business name, logo, hours, address, website, “About” copy
  2. Broadcast lists — segmented by tag (customer type, purchase history, region). Built from opt-in only.
  3. Welcome flow — automated message when a customer first opts in. Sets expectations, delivers value.
  4. Order notifications — order confirmation, shipping update, delivery confirmation. Massive trust-builder for e-commerce. We have a WhatsApp notification plugin for WooCommerce for clients on WP.
  5. Post-purchase flow — thank-you message, review request, cross-sell suggestions. Higher response rate than email equivalents.
  6. Re-engagement campaigns — periodic value-driven messages to opted-in customers
  7. Quick-reply automations — for FAQs (“Where is my order?”, “What are your hours?”)

Compliance + permission

Three rules we enforce on every campaign:

  • Explicit opt-in — customer must check a box or send a “subscribe” message. No assumed consent.
  • Easy opt-out — every broadcast includes “Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”
  • Template approval — business-initiated messages must use Meta-approved templates. We handle the approval process.

For Thai audiences we comply with Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). For European audiences, GDPR. We can write the consent language for both.

Pricing + FAQ

Setup: $300-600 one-time (Business API account, profile, first 3 templates, welcome + order flows). Monthly management: $200-500 + Meta’s conversation pricing pass-through. Most clients pay $400-800 per month for full WhatsApp marketing including 5,000-15,000 conversations.

Is bulk WhatsApp marketing legal? Bulk to strangers without consent is against Meta’s policy and likely illegal under PDPA / GDPR. Permission-based broadcast to opted-in customers is legal and effective.

WhatsApp Business vs Business API? Business app is for small businesses with one device. Business API is for scale — multiple users, automation, integrations. We only set up the API.

How much does WhatsApp marketing cost? $300-1,200/month total (our fee + Meta conversation costs). Lower for low-volume, higher for high-throughput.

Does WhatsApp work for B2B? Increasingly yes, especially in Asia and Latin America where WhatsApp is the default professional channel for SMB-to-SMB communication.
